PERMANENT Representative U Min Thein of Myanmar to the United Nations and other international organizations in Vienna attended the 13th session of the International Anti-Corruption Academy Assembly in Vienna, Austria, on 30 October 2024 and addressed policy matters, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He gave a remark that he concurred with the IACA Strategic Plan (2025-2028). He addressed the roles of capacity-building programmes and technical assistance in the least developed countries while making efforts to combat corruption. He appreciated the value of IACA’s online master’s courses and training and called for free online courses or affordable class fees for officials of the anti-corruption agencies of the least developed countries.

Myanmar concentrates on anti-corruption and promoting good governance. It has been implementing the Anti-Corruption Strategic Plan (2022-2025), raising awareness of anti-corruption, preventing corruption and promoting ethical norms. It has been accelerating cooperation with regional and international partners. The Anti-Corruption Commission of Myanmar has been conducting public awareness on anti-corruption. Anti-corruption awareness is integrated into the curriculum of basic education, and anti-corruption and ethical practices are disseminated at universities. The commission uses mass media for public awareness and holds anti-corruption and prevention programmes, workshops, and education talks.

He also reiterated commitments to prevent and fight corruption and implement obligations of the United Nations Convention against Corruption and Sustainable Development Goals, together with IACA.

YB Dato’ Sri Azalina binti Othman Said acted as president of the session. The high-ranking officials, including the Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro and anti-corruption institutions officials and representatives based in Vienna, attended the session.
