ACCORDING to Myanma Railways, the Yangon circular railway service will run with new DEMU rail carriages in November.
The country has purchased 11 diesel-electric multiple-unit (DEMU) carriages from Spain, and nine carriages have arrived.
Currently, Myanma Railways has carried out the railroad upgrade project, which includes setting up signals at level crossings, reconstructing train stations, and elevating platforms.
Train ticket fees are also raised to K400 from K200 for a 20-mile journey and K800 from K300 for circular rail above 20 miles, as of 20 October.
No 15-Up Yangon-Bago train and the No 16-Down Bago-Yangon passenger train have started running since 2 October, equipped with new air-conditioned DEMU carriages, and for the safety of passengers, iron staircases with handrails have already been set up at 12 stations along the railroad.
