Severe Cyclonic Storm “DANA” Condition
According to the observations at (17:30) hrs MST today, the Severe Cyclonic Storm “DANA” over Northwest Bay and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal has moved north-northwestwards still persist over Northwest Bay of Bengal and it is centered at about 300 nautical miles west-northwest of Sittway-(Myanmar), 85 nautical miles south-southeast of Dhamara (India). The central pressure of Cyclonic Storm is 984 hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is 65-70 miles per hour.
It does not intend to move towards Myanmar coasts at the present stage and therefore the SevereCyclonic Storm “DANA” is coded as yellow stage.
Forecast
It is likely to continute to move north-northwestwards and cross North Odisha and West Bengal Coasts between Puri and Sagar Island close to Dhamara(India) early morning of 25 October 2024.
Due to the Severe Cyclonic Storm “DANA”, rain or thundershowers are likely to be fairly widespresd to widespread in Nay Pyi Taw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon and, Ayeyawady Regions and Kachin, Northern Shan, Chin, and Rakhine States with likelihood of regionally and isolated heavyfalls and strong winds tonight up to next 24 hrs.
Frequently squalls with rough to very rough seas will be experienced in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 50-55 miles per hour and wave height will be about 11-15 feet in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts.

People should be aware of the natural disasters such as the heavy rainfall with strong wind, thunder, lightnings, hails, flash floods and landslides in the hilly areas and near small rivers and inland water transport and domestic flight.
