SUPERVISED by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, action is being taken under the law against illicit trading across the nation.

“On June 20, during inspections, the Customs Department’s on-duty teams impounded 24,750 kilogrammes of LLDPE plastic resin valued at K36.382 million. These were submitted by the owner for abandonment from a container at the Myanmar Industrial Port. Additionally, 350 bottles of Powerflor from India, valued at K3.5 million, were seized from luggage at Yangon International Airport due to lack of official document. The action was taken under Customs procedures.

On 21 June, the combined teams captured 212 rolls of Tape and 8,028 sticks of hollow pipe worth K170.1 million from China without official documents in Sagaing township and a Mitsubishi Fuso truck (approximately K25 million) carrying four kinds of goods valued at K7.4 million including 90 sets of keyboards (used) without official documents at the Thanlwin Bridge (Hpa-an) combined checkpoint (Tayothla side). The action was taken under the Export and Import Law and Customs procedures.

On the same day, the combined team seized illegal teak weighing 8.569 tonnes worth K4,115,400 in Bago and Pyay districts. The action was taken under the Forest Law.

Therefore, 10 arrests (estimated value of K246 million) were made on 20 and 21 June, according to the committee.
