THE Delta News Agency, malicious media outlet, has been found engaging in the dissemination of misinformation on social networking sites. The agency alleges that security troops are conducting pedestrian checks in Mawlamyine, Mon State, and threatening to impose a K10,000 fine on individuals failing to present their ID cards.
Contrary to these claims, residents in Mawlamyine report no specific troop-led inspections in the area. The assertion that a fine is imposed for failure to show registration is deemed false. On public holidays, Saturdays, and Sundays, random checks at intersections are observed, conducted by multi-departmental teams, without any incidents of monetary demands.
In light of these findings, it can be reasonably concluded that the malicious media outlet is intentionally spreading misinformation on social networking sites, aiming to instil anxiety and disrupt the daily activities of the people.
