THE combined on-duty teams managed by the Customs Department captured a Toyota Hilux (approximately worth K12 million), heading to Bago from Thaton, carrying 60 18-litre jerrycan of One-Shrimp brand palm oil worth K3 million without official documents at the Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint on 13 December and 26 kinds of goods worth K21.377 million, including 1,044 China-made phone charger cables that were not mentioned in the Import Declaration (ID), from luggage at the Yangon International Airport (Import Desk) on 14 December. The action was taken under the Customs procedures.
On 14 December, the combined teams seized a total of 10.861 tonnes of illegal timbers valued at K760,333 in Ottarathiri township, an unregistered Beben 150 motorbike (estimated value of K1.3 million) at the checkpoint on the outskirts of Magway township and a total of 2.939 tonnes of illegal teak worth K1,939,872 in Toungoo district. The action was taken under the Forest Law and the Export and Import Law.
On 15 December, the combined teams impounded a total of 4.647 tonnes of illegal teak valued at K3,067,416 in Mudon township and two kinds of goods valued at K65.88 million, including 600 bottles of Red Label whisky without official documents, at the G1 coach station in Mandalay. These actions were conducted under the Forest Law and Customs procedures.
A total of eight arrests were made on three consecutive days from 13 to 15 December, with an estimated value of K109,325,411, as reported by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.
