THE Department of Fire Services under the Ministry of Home Affairs is accelerating its preparedness activities for relief, rescue and first-aid operations in the event of a storm in various states and regions.

Preparedness activities such as rehearsal exercises are being conducted at fire brigades in Kyauktaw, Kyaukpyu, Sittway, Taungup, Pauktaw, Buthidaung, Minpya, Manaung, Maungtaw, Myaypon, MraukU, Yanbye, Thandwe and An townships in Rakhine State; in Shwepyitha and Hlaing townships of the Yangon Region, and in Kangyidaunt, Kyaiklat, Pantanaw, Pathein, Maubin, Mawlamyine, Laputta, Wakema and Hinthada of the Ayeyawady Region. People are informed and notified of well-preparedness measures against any possible incoming storm.
