UNION Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Thet Thet Khine received a delegation led by Indian Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Vinay Kumar yesterday morning in Nay Pyi Taw.

The meeting discussed the completion of the distribution of rice and wheat donated by India, India’s technical assistance for the curriculum for Social Work, scholarship assistance, and the progress of the ongoing projects implemented under the MoU with India for the development of Rakhine State and difficulties encountered in the implementation. They also had a cordial exchange of views on the latest development of ASEAN’s humanitarian assistance to Myanmar.

Recently, the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement coordinated the donation of 10,000 tonnes of rice and 200 tonnes of wheat as humanitarian aid from India to Myanmar and cooperated with the Yangon regional government to distribute them to the families in Yangon whose social-economic life was affected by COVID-19.
