THE Ministry of Electric Power and the Ministry of Energy should make arrangements to meet the electricity needs of the people, Union Minister U Thaung Han said. This is the order given to the authorities when he arrived at Paunglaung Hydropower Plant on the morning of 4 June.

Next, the Union minister said that it is necessary to continuously inspect the generators for durability and pay special attention to the cleanliness and safety of the power plant. The Ministry of Electric Power and the Ministry of Energy should work to meet the growing electricity demand, he said. To be able to produce electricity continuously and with stability throughout the year, efforts are being made to balance generation resources on power generation projects, such as Hydropower plants, Solar power plants, natural gas and thermal power plants.

Afterwards, the Union minister and party arrived at Paunglaung Dam and urged to systematically manage the water flowing into the dam to generate electricity to meet the demand for electricity before next summer.

He also inspected the condition of the dam, water inflow of the dam, water storage and the condition of the construction of the overflow water gate. In Yangon Region, the part-time power supply was tested from 5 pm to 8 am on 25 May, and it is planned to provide a 24-hour power supply from mid-June.
