TO provide shelters for the people in the event of natural disasters, a total of 219 disaster-resistant buildings have been built in 11 regions and states, said Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun, SAC Information Team Leader, at the 15th press conference of the State Administration Council.

“When it comes to cyclone news, the people are informed through the media; It is also necessary for the people to follow the precautionary measures of the relevant organizations; They should know the type and the route of the cyclone; The Chairman of the State Administration Council stressed to publish the cyclone information,” he said.

The government has set up 134 relief warehouses in various regions, including Nay Pyi Taw, to carry out disaster relief work, and relief supplies are stored in advance for respective households. Of 219 shelters, 23 are under construction.

Motorboats and life jackets are made in advance for emergency response, search, rescue, and evacuation in the event of a natural disaster.

“As of May 2022, 496 motorboats have been deployed where needed. The Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services has ordered the regiments and units to respond to the natural disaster immediately without having to wait for the above order,” Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun added.
