THE Republic of the Union of Myanmar, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, as a member of the “United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change-UNFCCC”, developed the Intended Nationally Determined Contribution (INDC), a preliminary process of the Paris Agreement, with technical assistance from the UN-Environment and international organizations, with the input from the relevant ministries, departments and organizations and submitted to the Secretariat of UNFCCC with the approval of the Union Government on 28.9.2015.
According to the resolution of the 21st Conference of the UNFCCC Conventions, a final draft of the Nationally Determined Contribution-NDC was compiled with the technical assistance from the international development partners and the participation of the relevant ministries, departments, organizations, experts, INGOs, NGOs, and CSOs, and by setting goals climate change mitigation and adaptation in each sector based on the Myanmar INDC submitted in 2015. Arrangements are being made to submit the final draft to the UNFCCC under the rules and regulations with the approval of the State Administration Council.
The Nationally Determined Contribution-NDC report (draft, not final report), which is being developed by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation was submitted to the UNFCCC on 12 July 2021 by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation of the National Unity Government-NUG that has been declared as the terrorist association. It was found on the NUG’s Website and Facebook page.
Thus, an official objection letter has been sent to the UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change-UNFCCC), stating that such submission of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation of the terrorist association NUG (National Unity Government) is illegal.
