THE Ministry  of  Education  held the capacity enhancement course  opening  ceremony  for  promoted pro-rectors of the universities  yesterday  morning  in  Nay Pyi Taw.

The ceremony was attended by Union Minister Dr Nyunt Pe,  the  Deputy  Ministers,  the  Permanent  Secretary,  Directors-General,  Deputy  Permanent Secretaries, Deputy Directors-General, promoted deputy rectors and officials.

At  the  ceremony,  the  Union Minister said the promoted pro-rectors  would  need  to  take  responsibilities  for  administrative and financial matters of the universities.

He  added  that  this  course  would  help  them  solve  the  difficulties they may face while on duty as the pro-rectors as they are  promoted  from  being  professors.

He  urged  them  to  perform  duties  under  the  leadership  of  the Rectors and cooperate with their directorate and the Ministry of Education to develop the universities.

Deputy  Minister  for  Education  Dr  Zaw  Myint  said  the  benefits of the capacity enhancement  course  for  the  promoted  deputy-rectors.

A total of 105 professors (71 from arts and science universities and 34 from computer/technological universities) were promoted to the pro-rectors.

The capacity enhancement course will be held on 13 May and 14 May. The course is conducted into five subjects: The Policies of the Ministry of Education, Financial Matter,  Civil  Service  Law  and  Rules  and  University  management.
