DEPUTY MINISTER U Myo Hlaing of the Ministry of Health and Sports, along with the Acting Director-General of the Department of Sports and Physical Education, met the rowers. They are under training at the Myanmar Rowing Federation training camp in Inya Lake in Yangon on 10 April ahead of the 31st Southeast Asian Games to be held in Viet Nam in November.

Next, the Deputy Minister arrived at the Myanmar shooting Federation Training Camp in Dagon Myothit (North) Township and met President U Kyaw Moe Win, instructors and athletes and encouraged them and filled in the gaps.

Then, the Deputy Minister inspected the construction of the guesthouse, dining hall and kitchens at Thuwunna Stadium. With the People’s Republic of China’s help, major renovations are being carried out at the National Indoor Stadium (1) (Thuwunna).

On 11 April, the Deputy Minister also visited Sittway and inspected Sports and Physical Education Institute construction there.

Sports and Physical Education Institute (Sittway) is scheduled to open in the 2022- 2023 academic year. Three-storey housing, one dining room, four gymnasiums, two football stadiums, two admin offices, plus two-storey classrooms are being built at the cost of about K3,000 million.

Upon completion, up to 250 qualified trainees will be selected from Rakhine State and trained in six categories of sports to get a B.Sc. (Sports) degree with officials’ support.

Afterwards, the Deputy Minister inspected the football field’s upgrading and the paving of the Synthetic Rubber Runway at Danyawady Stadium in Sittway

Next, the Deputy Minister met staff from State, District and Township departments of Sports and Physical Education in Sittway and discussed holding summer sports competitions including Myanma Thaing, and Chinlone, following the rules and regulations of COVID-19.

In the afternoon, the Deputy Minister inspected the opening ceremony of Laywadi Karate-Do Summer Club under the State Department of Sports and Physical Education at Danyawady Gymnasium in Sittway.

At Sitke Monastery, the Deputy Minister and party watched the Shan Gyi Thaing and Bando (Main) Club’s opening ceremony and provided training materials and sports uniforms.

After that, the Deputy Minister inspected the Waithali Stadium in Sittway, leased to Rakhine United Club, and instructed to renovate the stadium.
