THE Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation organized the 2nd coordination meeting on the draft of Farmers Organization Bill yesterday.

The meeting was attended by Union Minister Dr Aung Thu, Deputy Minister U Hla Kyaw, Permanent Secretary U Kyaw Min Oo, the Directors-General, Deputy Directors-General and other officials of the relevant department.

The meeting mainly focussed on the emergence of law for farmers’ organization affairs according to the Law of Protection of the Farmer Rights and Enhancement of their Benefits stipulated in 2018.

It also discussed the main points to add in the draft version of the law, formation of farmer associations and certain organizations to assign duties and to ensure checks and balances on these associations.
