THE Tatmadaw contributed K1 billion to COVID-19 vaccination fund of the nation yesterday, according to the report of Office of Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services.

The report said that the Tatmadaw made the first cash donation from the one-month salary of Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and senior Tatmadaw officers and one-day salary of Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) officers and the substituted civil staff members in April 2020 and the second cash donation from 25 per cent of the one-month salary of senior Tatmadaw officers and one-day salary of Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) officers and the substituted civil staff members in May 2020.

The two donations amounted to over K4 billion in total. The cash donations were spent purchasing medical supplies for hospitals, civil society organizations, quarantine centres of the Tatmadaw and the treatment centres of COVID-19 positive patients.

While the Tatmadaw is actively taking part in the fight against the pandemic, the latest donation of K1 billion is the first contribution to the COVID-19 vaccination fund, and further donation will be made if necessary.
