Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and State Security and Peace Commission Chairman Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended the ceremony to open the 60th Myanmar Gems Emporium at the Maniyadana Jade Hall in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.
The Senior General and attendees to the ceremony watched a documentary video on the production and sale of Myanmar’s pearls, production of gems and jewellery items, and preparations to organize the 60th Myanmar Gems Emporium.
The Senior General inspected lots of jade, gems and pearls displayed at the Maniyadana Jade Hall for sale at the 60th Myanmar Gems Emporium and responded to the reports of officials with necessary guidance.
The Senior General and party explored the selling and opening of private jewellery ornament shops and booths, and inspected lots of uncut jade stones displayed outside the hall.
Also, present at the ceremony were Prime Minister U Nyo Saw, Commission Secretary and Joint Executive Chief General Ye Win Oo, commission members, Union ministers, Union-level dignitaries, the Nay Pyi Taw Council chairman, senior Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, the commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command, departmental officials, representatives from the Myanmar Gems and Jewelry Entrepreneurs Association (MGJEA), and gem traders from home and abroad.
The emporium will last till 26 November. It will sell 5,064 lots of uncut jade stones, 21 lots of finished jade products, 13 lots of uncut gemstones, 147 lots of jewellery items, and 489 lots of pearls to local and foreign gem traders through the open tender system.
Sales will be conducted in foreign currencies, including US dollars, euros, yuan, Thai baht, and other currencies accepted by the Central Bank of Myanmar.
