Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn, Chairman of the Working Committee on Information and Development of a Resilient and Strong Social Community, accompanied by Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman U Than Tun Oo and relevant officials, inspected the healthcare services of specialists from 300-bed General Hospital (Nay Pyi Taw) and 100-bed People’s Hospital (Tatkon) in Ohnbin village, Tatkon Township, yesterday.
The Union minister and party first observed the healthcare services and provision of commodities and medicines of the healthcare team for the locals of Ohnbin village and the other eight villages at Mingala Yanaung monastery in Tatkon Township. He donated Buddha statues and a 2026 calendar of the ministry for the locals.
During the meeting with the villagers, he highlighted the activities of State media as per the procedures of the National Disaster Management Committee, such as dissemination of information, public awareness programmes and entertainment programmes to support the victims mentally and physically in disaster-stricken areas with the artistes.
The Union Minister observed the construction site of a 300-foot-long Lenge creek crossing bridge being built by the Rural Development Department. The old bridge is located along the Ohnbin-Taungpohtha intervillage road, was destroyed due to Typhoon Yagi.
He also inspected the maintenance work on the Pwesa diversion weir hit by Typhoon Yagi, and cordially met locals.
The Union minister and party paid homage to the Thakho Taung Maha Atula Lawka Yanaung pagoda, and presented cash donations for the all-around renovation of the pagoda to officials.
The Union minister also made proper instructions to create the Thakho Taung region into a regional destination, together with the Nyaungbintha Resort, to provide job opportunities for locals.
The pagoda is located in Ohnbin village, about 20 miles from Tatkon.
