Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by Joint Executive Chief General Ye Win Oo of the National Defence and Security Council and officials, yesterday afternoon inspected damage to segments on the Yangon-Nay Pyi Taw Expressway.

The Senior General inspected the repair of the water outlet on the expressway at milepost 94 and gave guidance to officials.

At the construction avenue on the expressway, the Senior General responded to reports of officials, saying that trees must be planted in the 200-foot-wide road area for greening the Yangon-Mandalay expressway.

He stressed the need to grow trees at forest reserves and protected public forests and to establish five to ten acres of small forests along both sides of the expressway during this monsoon.

The Senior General underlined that it is necessary to manage measures of operating illegally opened restaurants and illegal buildings along the expressway under the Expressways Law.

He noted that it is necessary to strictly supervise proper construction and maintenance practices to prevent the construction of unauthorized access routes onto the expressway and to ensure that designated access roads to the expressway are developed under the Expressways Law, rules and regulations.

The Senior General gave guidance to officials to formulate the plans for upgrading the Yangon-Mandalay expressway to a four-lane asphalt concrete road.

He inspected the reconstruction of Swa Creek Bridge on the expressway and gave guidance on systematic construction of the bridge and proper management for retaining walls of the creek and betterment of the water course.

In the evening, the Senior General and party arrived back in Nay Pyi Taw.
