A basic Russian language course opening ceremony was held yesterday morning at the Golden Palace Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw, to provide better services to Russian tourists visiting Myanmar.
The event was attended by Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism U Kyaw Soe Win, Deputy Minister U Phyo Zaw Soe, Nay Pyi Taw Council Member U Zeya Lin, departmental officials, representatives from hotel and tourism associations in Nay Pyi Taw, hotel staff, members of the Russia-Myanmar Friendship Association, instructors, and trainees.
At the ceremony, the Union minister stated that Russia is one of Myanmar’s key source markets for tourism, and that efforts are underway to provide services in the Russian language for Russian tourists visiting Myanmar. As part of these efforts, Russian language diploma courses, basic Russian language courses, and refresher courses are being conducted in Nay Pyi Taw as well as in various regions and states across the country.
He encouraged the trainees attending the basic Russian course to study systematically, improve their language proficiency, and actively participate in the development of the tourism industry.
Following this, an instructor from the Myanmar-Russia Friendship Association explained the purpose of the course and the content to be taught. The Union Minister then presented commemorative gifts to the instructors.
The Basic Russian Language Course is being attended by staff selected from various departments and the Boards of Trustees of Maravijaya Buddha Image and Uppatasanti Pagoda, and employees from hotels and guesthouses in Nay Pyi Taw. The course will run for four weeks.
