The Ministry of Commerce held meeting on export promotion and trade status via zoom application yesterday morning. During the Meeting, Union Minister Dr Than Myint said the country earned more than $36 billion from trade sector in 2019-2020FY and could implement 109.73pc of the estatmated amount of $33bilion. If the economy develops, it will create more job opportunities for the public and be a supportative measure in poverty reduction.
The Union Minister continued saying that the ministry is cooperating with the relevent ministries and private organizations to inform the merchants and farmers about the production rate, export volume, potential market prices, trade policies of other countries, demand and supply, climate situation for cultivation and hervasting and market status and is also making efforts to promote the export volumes by implementing National Export Strategy (NES). He also said the ministry holds trade fairs to develop the loacl production rate and provides the potential goods to join the international trade expos. It cooperates with Myanmar Fruit, Flower and Vegetable Producer and Exporter Association to stabilize the local fruit market and to expand new market during COVID-19 pandemic.
Moreover, Myanmar Online Expo Park was established and conducted Myanmar International Expo of Organic and Natural Products from August 24 to 30 via online. It will be a very supportive platform for the Myanmar products to link with the international market and it can also promote the export sector, he added. Then, the attendees to the meeting briefed export promotions, trade volume in 2019-2020FY, work plans to promote export sector in 2020-2021FY and challenges of farmers, business persons and factories.—
