The Myanmar delegation led by Dr Soe Win, Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, attended the 12th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Disaster Management- AMMDM, held from 23 to 25 October in Brunei.

On 24 October, the meeting discussed the completion of the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction, humanitarian assistance of the ASEAN Secretariat to Myanmar, disaster information sharing programmes of the AHA Centre in 2024, training programmes of ASEAN’s Emergency Cooperation Centre (EOC), relief items for ASEAN countries including Myanmar, plan to supply relief items at warehouses of ASEAN, meeting of three organizations that implement the ASEAN Agreement on Disaster Management and Emergency Response and other matters.

The ASEAN-China disaster cooperation meeting was held, and the leaders discussed the establishment of the ASEAN-China emergency response centre, sending of MoU on cooperation to China, progress in the implementation of 23 key points of AADMER Work Programme and drafting of the ASEAN-China disaster risk reduction framework.
During the ASEAN-Japan disaster cooperation meeting, they also emphasized the ASEAN-Japan disaster management plans, the implementation of ASEAN-Korea disaster management plans, completion in 2024, and a joint statement regarding disaster management.
The Union minister also attended the signing ceremony of the MoU on disaster management between India, Germany, the EU and the AHA Centre.
