Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe met diplomatic staff assigned to Myanmar embassies, permanent missions, and consulate-general abroad. The meeting was held yesterday afternoon at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw, where the Union minister delivered guidance to the departing officials.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs U Ko Ko Kyaw, directors-general, deputy directors-general, and officials designated for overseas postings. During the session, officials introduced the countries where they had previously served and their upcoming duty locations.

In his address, the Union minister underscored the importance of loyalty to the nation, urging diplomats to embody Myanmar’s values with integrity. He stressed the role of diplomats in fostering peaceful relations, emphasizing that a successful diplomat must approach their mission with dedication and character. He remarked that diplomatic responsibilities demand excellence and prudence, with diplomats expected to fulfil significant tasks even with minimal resources.

The Union minister also highlighted the need for officials to stay informed of international developments, act prudently to enhance Myanmar’s interests and maintain strong diplomatic ties. He encouraged diplomats to continually hone their negotiation skills and language proficiency, particularly in widely used languages and those relevant to their assigned countries. By working in unity, the Union minister noted, the collective effort of the team can lead to more effective outcomes.
