THE combined on-duty teams under Mandalay Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force confiscated two kinds of goods worth K24 million including 950 watermelons and pineapples without official documents from a Yar Zar minibus (estimated value of K30 million) heading to Muse from Mandalay and a total of 0.852 tonne of illegal sawn teak worth K937,200 without official documents from a Kia Bongo pickup car (approximate value of K13 million) travelling from PyinOoLwin to Mandalay at the 16th-Mile Kyaukchaw checkpoint, 18 kinds of goods worth K51,710,387 including 2,472 vacuum flasks that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from a Dongfeng tractor head and a trailer (estimated value of K50 million) and 14 kinds of goods worth K41,775,000 including 10,000 kilogrammes of iron round pipes that exceeded the quantity mentioned in the ID from a Chenglong tractor head and a trailer (estimated value of K55 million) heading to Mandalay from Muse at the 21/3 Milepost on Mandalay-Lashio Road on 11 July. The action was taken under Customs procedures.

On the same day, a combined team at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) combined checkpoint captured 240 packages of IYA Polyurethane foam sealant worth K2.4 million and 28 Kashiwa multi-function cookers worth K5.04 million without official documents from two vehicles travelling from Myawady to Yangon. The action was taken under Customs procedures.

The on-duty teams under the Customs Department made inspections on five vehicles travelling from Myawady to Yangon at the Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint and seized 2,500 kilogrammes of packing material plastic film worth K9.25 million that were not declared in the ID from a Chenglong tractor head and a trailer (estimated value of K45 million), 4,000 kilogrammes of glossy paper sheets 200 GSM that were not declared in the ID from an Isuzu Giga tractor head and a trailer (approximate value of K45 million), 7,000 kilogrammes of paper roll worth K10.5 million that were not declared in the ID from an Isuzu Giga tractor head and a trailer (approximate value of K55 million), 700 solar bulbs worth K10.5 million that were not declared in the ID from a Dongfeng tractor head and a trailer (estimated value of K45 million) and 3,000 kilogrammes of brand new packing material plastic film worth K10.95 million that were not declared in the ID from a Scania tractor head and a trailer (estimated value of K45 million). The action was taken under Customs procedures.

The on-duty team captured seven kinds of goods worth K1.87 million including 60 packages of Nestle Milo and 400 grammes of rice sticks worth K600,000 without official documents from a Nissan Caravan (approximate value of K16 million) and three kinds of goods worth K2.22 million including 2,752 packs of palm coconut gel syrup and 900 cans of Ding Fong drinks worth K1.5 million without official documents from a Higer minibus (approximate value of K40 million) on 11 July. The action was taken under Customs procedures.

A total of 1.056 tonnes of illegal teak worth K348,480 was seized in Paukkhaung township, Pyay district, on 12 July and the action was taken under the Forest Law.

As a result, a total of 27 arrests were made on 11 and 12 July, with an estimated value of K622,476,067, as reported by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.
