​​​​​​​THE UN Special Rapporteur’s report on 26 June 2024 accused international banks, stateowned banks, and some local private banks of being involved in some transactions that are going against human rights in Myanmar and called on the financial institutions to take action.

THE State Administration Council has appointed the following persons as Heads of Service Organizations, as shown against each of their names on probation from the date they assume charge of their duties.

1. The banks in Myanmar have been following the directives, rules and regulations issued by the Central Bank of Myanmar. They also places a special emphasis on directives and instructions issued by the Central Bank of Myanmar, the regulatory authority, related to Anti-Money Laundering/ Counter-Financing of Terrorism/Weapons of Mass Destruction (AML/CFT/WMD). The banks do not offer local and foreign transaction services for the people and companies included in international sanction lists, including the Specially Designated Nationals - SDN list. However, the banks verify the information obtained by the communicators and are operating enhanced due diligence (EDD) for both domestic and foreign transactions.

THE State Administration Council has appointed Dr Ni Lar Myint Htoo, Principal of the National Management Degree College of the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education, as Rector of Monywa University of Economics on probation from the date she assumes charge of her duties.

Announcement of Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

1. THE Central Bank of Myanmar found that transactions of foreign currencies have been taking place using the following Facebook pages and internet websites without holding a foreign currency business licence issued by the Central Bank of Myanmar, and has taken action against those involved in such transactions.

​​​​​​​1. According to Section 40 (e) and Section 62 of the Central Bank of Myanmar Law, the Central Bank of Myanmar is the sole legal entity authorized to issue and administer the local currency.
