Rotary club donates medical equipment for COVID-19

Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr Myint Htwe, in his capacity as Secretary-2 of the National-Level Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), accepted donations for the cause against COVID-19 at his ministry in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

The Chairman of the Rotary Club of Central Yangon, U Htet Nyi, first explained that the Rotary Club is working to benefit the health, education and economic sectors and are donating medical equipment to hospitals to use in treating and preventing COVID-19.

The Union Minister then said this donation of medical equipment is useful for not only COVID-19 patients, but other types of patients as well and thus serve a long-term benefit. He said the participation and collaboration of humanitarian groups, philanthropic organizations, and the general public play an important role in preventing and controlling the spread of COVID-19.

Next, the Union Minister accepted the donations on behalf of the central committee and gave certificates of honour in return.

The donations made yesterday included 59 patient monitors worth US$50,000 from the Rotary Club of Central Yangon (District 3350), 115 syringe pumps worth $61,500 from the Rotary Club of Central Yangon (District 3350, District 2570), Rotary Club of Kawagoe and Rotary Club of Honjo Minami, and 74 patient monitors worth $60,000 from the Rotary Club of Central Yangon (District 3350, District 3630).

Afterwards, the Union Minister accepted donations from the Deputy Minister for Ethnic Affairs U Hla Maw Oo and gave certificate of honour in return.

The Deputy Minister, his wife Daw Toe Toe Thu, and their family along with Daw Aye Myint Oo, Daw Aye Chit Oo, Dr Ti Ti Oo, and Daw Si Si Oo donated K1.5 million.
