THE Myanmar Police Force announced the arrest of a drug-trafficking group in Mandalay, which was involved in transporting drugs, including 5.94 kilogrammes of heroin and 30 bottles of Phensedyl, to the Myanmar-India border. Acting on a tip-off, a combined team from the Anti-narcotics Police Force apprehended Saw Phyo Aung, Lin Lin Aung, Hlaing Phyo Htwe (aka) Ko Htwe, and Aung Myo Thein (aka) Tartee at 4 pm on 7 January in Mahaaungmyay Township. They were found with a Toyota Crown and 660 soap dishes containing 5.94 kilogrammes of heroin. Following some interrogation, the police proceeded to Saw Phyo Aung’s residence in Chanayethazan Township at 4:30 pm the same day, where they seized 30 bottles of Phensedyl, each containing 100 millilitres. The police also arrested Ko Sai (aka) Ah Chein, who resides in Namsam and had arranged the drug transport from Mandalay to Tamu Township on the Myanmar-India border. Furthermore, Aung Thu (aka) Sein Thaung was arrested for instructing Hlaing Phyo Htwe, Thant Zin Htun, Lin Lin Aung, and Zaw Myo Thein to carry the drugs. Saw Phyo Aung, from Chanayethazan Township, had purchased the drugs, while Kiyan, who lives near the Myanmar-India border, resold them.
