Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn, who is also chairman of the Myanmar Libraries Development Cooperation Committee, presided over a coordination meeting of the committee in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

Speaking at the meeting, the Union minister highlighted the guidance of the Prime Minister to accelerate the drives to raise reading habits while focusing on the youth and literary sectors. He continued that every possible way should be used for the children to enjoy reading, and the reading clubs or talk shows for the children should also be conducted at the community centres.

Moreover, the government provided the required assistance in reopening the basic education schools and retaking the G 12 exam after the Mandalay earthquake, and such support is a sign of the special emphasis of the government on the education sector.

Event attendees coordinated the discussion, and the Union minister concluded the meeting.
