UNION Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Soe Win met Mr Daihei Mochizuki, Chief of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for Myanmar, in the ministry’s guesthouse yesterday.

Discussions focused on the collaborative efforts between the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement and the IOM in areas such as disaster risk management, capacity building to reduce vulnerability to disasters, and initiatives to reintegrate victims of human trafficking into communities. They also addressed humanitarian assistance for flood-impacted populations and exchanged views on the drafting of a memorandum of understanding and issues related to IOM staff’s residency permits.
