SENIOR officials from the Ministry of Health and Sports held a meeting at the Union Minister’s office in Yangon to discuss the ongoing measures against Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) in Myanmar yesterday morning.

The daily coordination meeting (6/2020) was attended by Union Minister Dr Myint Htwe and senior officers from his office. They discussed topics, including bringing back Myanmar students from Wuhan city to preparedness of respective departments.

A MYANMAR delegation led by Vice President U Henry Van Thio left for the Republic of Korea yesterday to attend the Peace, Security and Human Development World Sumit-2020.

The Vice President is accompanied by Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture Thura U Aung Ko and officials.

The delegation was seen off at the Yangon International Airport by Yangon Region Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein, Yangon Mayor U Maung Maung Soe, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea Mr Lee Sang-hwa and officials.

A group of local and foreign journalists visited Nyaung Chaung Village and Pa Din Village in Maungtaw Township, and interviewed the villagers of the two villages yesterday.

In the afternoon, they arrived back in Sittway from Maungtaw, and flew back to Yangon in the evening.
The media group includes journalists from Frontier Myanmar, Black Night Media, AL Jazeera English, BBC, RFA, MRTV and MITV. That was 35th batch of media personnel visiting Maungtaw since 2016.

The committee was formed by the Office of the President on 30 January to quickly respond to infections in Myanmar, in accordance with the guidelines, besides looking into surveillance, preparations, and treatment.
