Mandalay Electricity Supply Corporation, Electricity Supply Enterprise, Ministry of Electricity and Energy, and Hitachi Soe Electric & Machinery Co., Ltd. (HISEM), a tender winner for the National Electrification Project (NEP) Phase-II, signed a contract at the ministry in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Union Minister for Electricity and Energy U Win Khaing said the first phase of the National Electrification Project (NEP) was begun after a loan of US$ 310 million was received from World Bank.

The Union Election Commission jointly organized a workshop with the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) on the prevention of hate speech, fake news and misleading information.
Chairman of UEC U Hla Thein made an opening remark on the workshop, saying the important role of social media in modern communications, its advantages and challenges including hate speech, fake news and wrong information.
He remarked on the needs for prevention of these problems in the country where the social media users have amounted to 21 million in 2020, compared with 7 million in 2015.

THE Independent Commission of Enquiry (ICOE) submitted its final report to President U Win Myint yesterday morning.
ICOE Chairperson Ambassador Rosario Manalo and fellow members were received by the President at the Presidential Palace in Nay Pyi Taw whereupon she handed over the commission’s final report.
Also present at the meeting were Union Minister for Office of the State Counsellor U Kyaw Tint Swe, Union Minister for Office of the Union Government U Min Thu, ICOE members U Mya Thein, Ambassador Kenzo Oshima, and Prof Dr Aung Tun Thet.

UNION Attorney-General U Tun Tun Oo held a meeting with Charge d’ Affaires a.i. of Embassy of Kuwait Mr. Adel Al Adgham at the former’s office in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.
During the meeting, they discussed strengthening of bilateral relations between Myanmar and Kuwait, implementation of bilateral promotion and protection of investment pact signed in 2008, cooperation plans for trade and tourism industry and coordination with the Office of Union Attorney-General.

During the meeting, they discussed the invitation extended to Myanmar to send a high level delegation to the Universal Peace Federation’s World Summit 2020 scheduled for February 2020 in Seoul, South Korea, and the UPF and the Union government to co-host the Third Asia-Pacific Summit in Myanmar in June 2020.
