The opening ceremony of the WAVES 2025 Global Media and Entertainment Summit, held under the theme “India: The Hub of Innovation”, took place yesterday morning at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai, India. A Myanmar delegation led by Deputy Minister for Information U Ye Tint attended the ceremony.

Indian Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi officiated the opening and delivered a keynote address, highlighting not only the advancements in India’s media and entertainment sector but also showcasing the nation’s rich cultural heritage and traditions.

The summit’s opening drew participants from 75 countries, including top communication officials, policymakers, media and entertainment innovators, and prominent Indian artistes.
This inaugural WAVES 2025 summit aims to bring together innovation across the media and entertainment landscape. Scheduled from 1 to 4 May at the Jio World Convention Centre, the event is designed to explore opportunities, tackle challenges, and envision the future of global media and entertainment.

The summit also serves as a platform for collaboration and innovation through global networking among stakeholders across the sector. Its objectives include opening new frontiers, fostering cross-border cultural exchange and mutual understanding, enhancing creativity, and identifying strategic pathways forward. There will be discussions on policy trends and engagement strategies with local communities through powerful community radio platforms.
