THE Central Committee on Monitoring and Prevention of 2019 Novel Coronavirus held their daily coordination meeting (10/2020) at the Ministry of Health and Sports yesterday.
Union Minister Dr Myint Htwe first addressed the meeting with a message to the public that the speed at which the virus is spreading in China is rising with each passing day, and has jumped from a rate of 2,000 new cases per day on 31 January 2020 to 4,000 per day as of 5 February 2020.

A SECOND coordination meeting to successfully convene the 2nd Htamane making competition and fun fair between ministries was held at the meeting hall of the Ministry of Information in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.
Deputy Minister U Aung Hla Tun of Ministry of Information, in his capacity of the Competition Steering Committee Vice Chair, said at the meeting that the 1st Myanmar traditional Htamanel making competition and fun fair between ministries was held in Nay Pyi Taw last year.

MYANMAR has seen a decline of opium cultivation in 2019 to 33,100 hectares, which was over 11 per cent drop from 37,300 hectares in 2018, according to the Myanmar Opium Survey 2019 report released in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.
The survey was jointly conducted by the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) of Myanmar and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and it has been carried out annually since 2001, together with collecting socioeconomic data of locals in opium cultivation areas.
