Ministry of Health and Sports held a coordination meeting on the update situation of COVID-19 yesterday, with emphasis on contact tracing to put the pandemic under control. Union Minister Dr Myint Htwe discussed the three major strategies of contact tracing, enforcement of treatments and systematic management in quarantine centres. He also called for public cooperation in disease control measures in health, politics, economic and social issues, and the important role of local governments in addressing the second wave of pandemic.

The 23rd ASEAN+3 Finance Ministers’ and Central Bank Governors’ Meeting (AFMGM) was held via videoconferencing yesterday morning. The meeting was participated by Central Bank of Myanmar Governor U Kyaw Kyaw Maung, Deputy Minister for Planning, Finance and Industry U Maung Maung Win, CBM Deputy Governor U Soe Thein, ASEAN+3 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors, President of Asia Development Bank Mr Masatsugu Asakawa, the Director-General of ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office AMRO, the Secretary-General of ASEAN and the Deputy Managing Director of International Monetary Fund.

A relief flight of Myanmar National Airlines landed at Yangon International Airport yesterday afternoon, with 153 citizens who were stranded in Singapore due to suspension of international flights. The Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population, the Ministry of Health and Sports and the Yangon Region government provided them with proper medical tests and arranged 14-day quarantine at specific places or designated hotels, followed by the 7-day home quarantine.
