The Ministry of Information hosted a meeting of representatives from four pillars of democracy at its headquarters in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.


Union Minister Dr Pe Myint presided over the meeting and made an opening remark.


The Union Minister explained objectives of the meeting to promote public access to information, to hold discussions between media personnel and the officials from administrative, the legislative and the judiciary sectors, to recognize the natures of different professions in promoting good governance and to review the results of previous meeting.


He also put emphasis on the rights of media pillar to criticize individuals and organizations of the three pillars in line with the law, and expressed his expectation that the meeting could help media personnel in dealing with the remaining pillars.


Representatives from the Supreme Court of the Union, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Tatmadaw True News Information Team and the Ministry of Information discussed their works on release of information.


Deputy Minister U Aung Hla Tun and officials made recommendations on the discussions.


Union Minister Dr Pe Myint made a closing remark on the meeting.
