SUPERVISED by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illicit trade under the law.
Under the instructions of the Chairman of the Anti-Illicit Trade Task Force, an on-duty inspection team conducted inspections at the Yepu Permanent Checkpoint in Shan State on 14 and 17 July.
Officials confiscated K15 million worth of two vehicles which were carrying restricted goods. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
In addition, on 17 July, an on-duty inspection team made inspections at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) Combined Checkpoint.
They captured K2 million worth of 400 Yiluxieye brand sandals and K4.8 million worth of cosmetics that showed no official documents from two vehicles heading from Myawady to Yangon. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
On 18 July, a Customs mobile inspection team by the Mawlamyine Customs Department Head Office made inspections under the Mon State Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force.
They captured a total of K3.9 million worth of masks without official documents from a Mitsubishi K74 pickup car (approximately K26 million) near the Hline area traffic light of Mawlamyine detour heading from Phayathonzu, and the action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
Therefore, six arrests (approximately K51.7 million) were made on 14, 17 and 18 July, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.
