MEDICAL doctors and nurses from public hospitals, Tatmadaw medical teams, healthcare workers and volunteers are working hard to give COVID-19 vaccines to the people in various states and regions as the vaccination programme is one of the most important activities in the prevention, control and treatment of COVID-19 disease.
COVID-19 vaccine is being given daily to target groups regardless of race or religion including Buddhist monks and nuns, local people over the age of 40, religious leaders, prisoners, people with disabilities, those of ethnic armed groups, people with chronic diseases, and people in IDP camps respectively.
Medical doctors and nurses from public hospitals, medical teams from the Tatmadaw, relevant healthcare workers in collaboration with volunteers have already given COVID-19 vaccines to 6,696 people from 16 townships in Shan State (North), 3,180 from four townships in Shan State (East), 10,945 from 13 townships in Mon and Kayin states, 27,500 from 26 townships in Ayeyawady Region, 7,995 from three townships in Rakhine State, 9,210 from seven districts in Mandalay Region and 1,190 from Htantabin and Toungoo townships in Bago Region.
Similarly, healthcare officials gave the vaccines to 978 students from Northern Shan State, and 1,002 students from 26 townships in Ayeyawady Region.
It is reported that officials from the respective military commands visited the vaccination sites and coordinated the necessary work.
