HEALTH officials gave the first dose of Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccines to local people at Paingkyong Station Hospital, Paingkyong Township,Pa-An District, Kayin State yesterday.

To prevent and control the spread of the COVID-19 virus, officials gave the vaccines to local people over 18-year-old including monks, health workers, civil servants and vendors who have yet to be vaccinated for a variety of reasons.

On 17 December, the first batch of 500 people was scheduled to be vaccinated, and 148people came and received the vaccines.

Officials and departmental staff are working together to vaccinate the people in Paikyong and the remaining batches of vaccines will be given on 20 December. Officials will conduct healthcare services to the local people during the vaccination programme, according to the officials.
