UNDER the guidance of the Shan State government and the arrangement of the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism, a course conclusion ceremony of Tourism Awareness Training for Tourism Development was held in Hokyin Akha (Tourism village), Lwemwe village-tract, Kengtung Township in Shan State (East) on 10 December.

The training aimed to increase employment opportunities and income of local ethnic people by local and foreign tourists visiting the area and to identify and preserve the traditional culture of the Akha people.

The training covered subjects related to community-based tourism and nature-based tourism, basic English, first aid training from 22 November to 10 December, with a total of 30 trainees from Hokyin village. At the course conclusion ceremony, the trainees received the course certificates.

Hokyin Village is being implemented as a community-based tourism area under the supervision of the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism, Kengtung Branch, it is reported.
