The meeting with departmental officials and town elders was held at the Township General Administration Department Hall in Tonzang Township yesterday. During the meeting, town elders raised concerns about the restoration of telephone services and electricity supply.
Deputy Minister Maj-Gen Kyaw Swa Oo explained that efforts were underway to restore telephone services. He added that electricity in Tonzang was currently being supplied from a 300 kVA diesel generator on a scheduled basis from 7 pm to 9:30 pm daily, and that efforts were being made to extend the supply hours.
The deputy minister also presented rice, cooking oil, salt and gram, provided by the National Natural Disaster Management Committee, to departmental staff and residents who had returned after temporary displacement. The supplies were received by departmental officials and town elders.
The deputy minister, together with state ministers, a Chin State Hluttaw representative and members of the Chin State Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Committee, also opened the Tonzang Branch of Myanma Economic Bank. They inspected the bank’s operations and preparations for the provision of e-pension services.
