WATER pipelines supplying drinking water from Laiva Dam to Falam’s storage tanks through a syphon system were damaged in terrorist attacks, while water pumps and related equipment were either destroyed or went missing. During the rehabilitation and reconstruction period, officials carried out restoration work to re-establish the water supply. Drinking water is now being distributed to residents through four main storage tanks, each with a capacity of 100,000 gallons.

Deputy Minister for Border Affairs Maj-Gen Kyaw Swa Oo, accompanied by Chin State Development Affairs Minister and members of Chin State Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Committee, inspected the drinking water distribution processes in Falam yesterday.

They also inspected the installation of MEC TEL telephone lines at the Myanma Posts and Telecommunications (MPT) automatic exchange office in Falam, which has been set up to improve telecommunications services for locals.
