THE government is extending an invitation to those involved in various armed groups, including the PDF, to return to the legal fold. Those who do so are being provided with necessary assistance and support.

Members of PDF 277 males and 35 females, totalling 312 individuals entered the legal fold yesterday, and they were handed over to their parents and guardians at the Yan Aung Myin Hall of the Central Command Headquarters.

The returnees handed over eight rifles, one M22, one KA-25 rifle, two Type 81 rifles, two homemade guns, two homemade mortars, 23 magazines, 781 bullets, 10 grenades and two bombs. The region’s chief minister and the commander awarded K60 million for 12 rifles, K1 million for two homemade guns, K1 million for two homemade mortars, K3 million for 10 grenades, K600,000 for two bombs, and K29 million for those who returned without arms, totalling K94.6 million, and supplies for the returnees. Those who re-entered the legal fold were required to sign pledges, after which they were systematically handed back to their parents and guardians.

These 312 returnees who rejoined society are from different townships of Mandalay Region.

There are still individuals who wish to re-enter the legal framework. Those who intend to do so are urged to promptly contact and report to the nearest district or township administrative bodies, military units, or police stations, where they will be welcomed back and provided with necessary assistance. Appropriate cash rewards will be granted for the arms and ammunition.
