Union Minister for Information U Htein Lin visited the Government Printing Press (Mandalay) under the Printing and Publishing Department (Upper Myanmar) yesterday morning and inspected books printed and published by the press, the operation and condition of the Orient-I and Orient-II rotary presses, sheet-fed printing machines, raw material storage, glue-binding machines, gathering and stitching machines, cutting machines, Katana image setter, photocopyer and plate-making machines.
During the inspection, the Union minister instructed officials to ensure that printing operations met proper standards and quality requirements, particularly so that school textbooks could be durable enough for continued use by successive students, and to provide training for skilled workers.
He then visited the construction site of the Arts Centre (Mandalay), where responsible officials explained the construction progress, completed works, ongoing activities and future plans for the arts centre project. The Union minister discussed ways to accelerate the construction work and enquired about the availability of funding.
Afterwards, he inspected the construction work of the Arts Centre (Mandalay), which is being carried out in three phases, and reviewed the completion of the works included in Phase I, while coordinating the necessary requirements.
