A meeting was held yesterday afternoon at the Yangon Region Department of Agriculture office between regional officials and companies producing natural and bio-fertilizers. The discussion focused on improving the development of farmers in Yangon Region, increasing crop yields, enhancing product quality and safety, promoting long-term use of natural soil nutrients and bio-fertilizers, and producing goods that can be exported abroad.
During the meeting, Region Department Head U Tint Naing stated that 32 companies are producing natural fertilizers in Yangon Region. Efforts are underway to encourage farmers to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers during the monsoon paddy season and to adopt a combined use of chemical and natural fertilizers. Demonstration plots are being implemented across townships to promote the wider use of compost and to share agricultural techniques with farmers.
Attendees delivered briefings on the production and distribution processes of the fertilizers.
