A charity feast and festive celebration for the officers and staff serving was held at the Ministry of Legal Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning in front of the Ministry’s office to mark the eve of the Maha Thingyan Festival for the year 2026 (1388 Myanmar Era).

First, Union Minister and Union Attorney-General Dr Thida Oo delivered a New Year message. She stated that the tradition of splashing water symbolizes the cleansing of impurities from the old year, bringing clarity, freshness and coolness to the mind. She expressed her wishes for happiness and good health in the New Year and encouraged all to fulfil their national and family responsibilities with renewed spirit and strength. She also wished that all people around the world, as well as all citizens of Myanmar, may be free from danger and enjoy peace and prosperity.

Next, Deputy Minister and Deputy Attorney-General Dr Htein Lin Oo, the Permanent Secretary, and directors-general from the respective departments also delivered New Year goodwill messages and prayers.

Afterwards, the Union Minister and Union Attorney-General and party, observed and encouraged the provision of charity meals for the ministry’s officers and staff. They also watched and appreciated performances of Thingyan songs and traditional dance troupes, and presented honorary cash awards in recognition of the performances. — MNA/KNN
