Myanma Railways has announced that additional carriages are being attached to passenger express trains operating on the Yangon-Nay Pyi Taw-Mandalay, Yangon-Mawlamyine, and Yangon-Pyay railway lines.

On the Yangon-Nay Pyi Taw route, an additional air-conditioned DEMU train has been introduced, bringing the total to three up-and-down services running daily on a regular schedule.

Similarly, on the Yangon-Mandalay line, due to an increase in passenger numbers, one upper-class carriage and three ordinary-class carriages have been added to Express Trains No 11 up and No 12 down. Moreover, the number of stopping stations has been increased from 16 to 20, with additional stops now included at DaikU, Yeni, Nyaungyan, and Myittha stations.

In addition, on the Yangon-Mawlamyine route, one more ordinary-class carriage has been added to the air-conditioned express train. On the Kyimyindine-Pyay line, two ordinary-class carriages have been added to the postal train. Furthermore, on the Letpadan–Tharawaw line, the local train, which previously operated only on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, has been running daily since 28 March due to rising passenger demand.

Tickets for the air-conditioned DEMU express trains running on the Yangon-Nay Pyi Taw-Mandalay route can be purchased via the Online Railways Ticketing and Payment System (ORTP), and ticket prices remain unchanged. — ASH/KNN
