1. The Ministry of Electric Power, exercising the authority conferred under Subsection (b) of Section 72 of the Electricity Law, and with the approval of the Union Government in accordance with Section 41 of the said Law, issued Notification 89/2026 on 27 February 2026, prescribing electricity tariff rates.
2. The electricity generated from Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) power plants will be supplied via direct lines to non-domestic consumers located within industrial zones and special economic zones. Except in cases of line faults and system breakdowns, there will be no load shedding, and a dedicated 24-hour electricity supply will be provided. For such electricity, a fixed tariff rate of K900 per unit will be charged.
3. Industrial and business enterprises located outside industrial zones and special economic zones can apply to the department if they wish to receive a 24-hour electricity supply at the fixed rate of K900 per unit as stated in paragraph 2, and arrangements will be made accordingly.
4. However, depending on the generation capacity of existing power plants and the transmission capacity of power lines, electricity supplied under the normal distribution system to the public and to industrial and business enterprises will continue to be charged at the current tariff rates (according to the respective layers for domestic and non-domestic categories), without any revision or change.
