THE government continues to conduct joint operations in the Shwe Kokko area and the KK Park area, where suspects commit telecom fraud and online gambling activities. The combined teams comprising security personnel and administrative bodies are involved in these operations, which include entering the areas, dismantling and removing illegal buildings, and taking further action in accordance with the law. To date, a total of 321 illegal buildings have been demolished in the KK Park area.

Yesterday, the authorities demolished 13 illegal buildings in Section 3. A total of 173 buildings out of 425 in Section 3 have been destroyed, and a total of 321 buildings out of 635 illegal buildings have been demolished in the KK Park area so far.

The inspections began on 18 November at the buildings within the Shwe Kokko area that had been used for online scam operations. To date, a total of 694 illegal buildings have been found, and 169 buildings linked with online scams have been found. Measures to seal and confiscate those buildings to prevent further use began yesterday, and totalling 161 buildings have already been sealed and confiscated.

The combined team conducted a surprise check in Myawady and arrested 96 Chinese nationals near Maethawtalay village. Moreover, the authorities found five three-storey buildings and three one-storey buildings, totalling eight buildings in Ward 3, Myawady. Yesterday, the authorities razed another five illegal buildings.

Authorities systematically destroyed the seized materials and continue the operation to expose the offences.

The government considers the eradication of telecom fraud and online gambling crimes a national responsibility. To ensure that such activities can no longer operate within Myanmar, it will continue its efforts in coordination with not only domestic forces but also the governments of neighbouring countries.
