Under the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, efforts to combat the illicit trade are continued effectively by the law.
On 20, 22, 23, 24 and 25 November, the combined teams impounded a boat (approximately K1.8 million) carrying illegal timbers and charcoals worth K19.63 million in Kawthoung, Myeik, Kyunsu and Bokpyin townships, six unregistered motorbikes and three unregistered vehicles worth K36.3 million in Minbu, Ngaphe, Minhla, Seikphyu, Magway and Chauk townships, illegal teaks worth K37,500 in Taungdwingyi Township and two mobiles with cash for gambling valued at K746,500 in Minbu and Taungdwingyi townships. The action was conducted under the Forest Law and the Export/Import Law.
On 22, 24 and 26 November, the combined on-duty teams seized a Higer bus (approximately K60 million) carrying foodstuffs and consumer goods valued at K60.053 million without official documents in TadaU Township, an unregistered vehicle and an unregistered motorbike worth K12 million in Kyaikmaraw Township, an unregistered motorbike worth K4 million in Myaungmya Township, and illegal timbers worth K2.261 million in Kyangin, Ingapu and Myanaung townships. The action was taken under the Forest Law, the Export/Import Law, and Customs procedures.
On 26 November, the combined teams confiscated MV MCL6 vessel (estimated value of K920 million), docked from Kawthoung to Yangon, carrying industrial materials and consumer goods worth K1.463billion that are smuggled without declaration on ID at the Thakayta Port, industrial materials valued at K101.482 million without official documents from a container at the Asia World Port and consumer goods valued at K9.3 million without official documents from luggage at the Yangon International Airport. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
The Steering Committee reported 52 arrests on 20, 22, 23, 24, 25 and 26 November, seizing illegal goods worth approximately K2.690 billion.
