A CTING President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by Commission Secretary and Joint Executive Chief General Ye Win Oo, commission members, Union ministers, senior Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and officials, inspected the PyinOoLwin railway station yesterday afternoon.

They were welcomed at the station by Union Minister for Transport and Communications U Mya Tun Oo, Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung and officials.

The Union Minister for Transport and Communications and officials reported to the Acting President and SSPC Chairman of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar on repairing of a section between pier 16 and No 2 approach structure of the Gokteik Viaduct between Gokteik and Naungpain damaged by terrorists to reoperate trains on the PyinOoLwin-Nawnghkio-Gokteik-Kyaukme railway section of Mandalay-Lashio railway, placing of the rail tracts with the use of way beams as temporary structure, production of the iron frames similar to the damaged ones, clearing of the bushes along the railway section, maintenance of the Htonpho-PyinOoLwin-Nawnghkio-Gokteik-Kyaukme section, removal of landmines planted by terrorists along the railway lines, destruction of railway 1. Trains must be operated with steam locomotives along the PyinOoLwin-Gokteik-Naungpain section to attract domestic and foreign travellers. 2. It is necessary to systematically calculate measures for repairing the railway sections and secure and smooth running of trains. 3. Construction of the six-storey Thumingala Market (Nyantaw Market) project must be supervised to emerge as a modern market aligned with urban development. Salient points from the speeches delivered by the Senior General on his inspection tour of PyinOoLwin parts and related accessories by terrorists, stealing of rail tract accessories by terrorists and timely installation of these accessories, and efforts to reopen the railway section.

In response, the Acting President and SSPC Chairman of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar stressed the need to systematically repair the Gokteik Viaduct, blown up by terrorists in mine blasts and take security measures. It is necessary to systematically calculate measures for repairing the railway sections and securing and smooth running of trains. He noted that gravel must be filled along the railway lines to meet the standards. Necessary maintenance must be undertaken at bridges along the railway section.

He underlined that trains must be operated with steam locomotives along the PyinOoLwin-Gokteik-Naungpain section to attract domestic and foreign travellers.

He added that passenger trains must be extended to give transport services to the people along the Yangon-Nay Pyi Taw-Mandalay railway during the coming Thadingyut public holidays.

The Acting President and SSPC Chairman of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar viewed around the railway station and gave necessary guidance.

When they arrived at the six-storey Thumingala Market (Nyantaw Market) construction project in PyinOoLwin, Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung reported on progress of the project, accomplishment of the guidance given by the Head of State on his inspection tour, plans to open shops on relevant floors, arrangements for car parks, systematic measures of drainage facilities, installation of solar panels to generat electricity for the market, and supervision for the project meeting the construction standards and to complete it on the schedules.

After hearing the reports, the Acting President and SSPC Chairman of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar gave guidance that the six-storey market aims to emerge as a modern market in conformity with the growing population of PyinOoLwin and the increasing number of travellers and to be able to showcase domestic products and basic personal goods in a single place.

He noted that it is necessary to supervise the construction of the project to create a modern market aligned with urban development. Emphasis must be placed on the cleanliness of the building with systematic facilities of water and power supply for the market.

The Acting President and SSPC Chairman of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar inspected the construction project of the market and gave necessary guidance to officials.
