All gold shop operators in Yangon Region are required to attend an awareness course on anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT course), according to the Yangon Region Gold Entrepreneurs Association (YGEA)

YGEA is making efforts to open the AML/CFT course monthly. The AML/CFT course (Batch 24) was opened on 1 August 2025.

“Gold shop operators are compulsory to attend the course so as not to have fraudulent transactions. Only 250 trainees out of 400 applications were accepted in the previous batch of the AML/CFT course. YGEA will offer an awareness course on AML/CFT monthly for the remaining,” said an official of YGEA.

YGEA also conducts gold training for free. The respective experts disseminate education and knowledge about gold mining, gold refining, gold trading, basic calculations to run a gold shop, goldsmith, gold mortgage, gold rate calculation, gold/silver coins and jewellery.

Those gold shop owners, merchants, traders, gold refinery owners and those interested in gold are attending gold training.
